Carbon Monoxide VR Training
Carbon Monoxide is an engaging and educational VR game designed to teach children about the dangers of carbon monoxide. Since the gas is invisible and odorless, it can be challenging to understand its risks. This app creatively visualizes the presence of carbon monoxide in a fun, interactive way.
The game starts in a bathroom with a faulty ventilation system, where the character begins to rise from the gas water heater. The goal is for children to leave the apartment as quickly as possible and call emergency services (112). However, the challenge intensifies as carbon monoxide is accompanied by Mister Chimney and a gas heater. The longer players stay in the toxic environment, the harder it becomes to reach the objective, teaching kids the importance of quick action and awareness when faced with hazardous gases.

Training Program
1. Training Objective
The goal of this training is to educate children about the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) and teach them how to react correctly in hazardous situations. Participants will learn what CO is, where it can form, the symptoms of poisoning, and how to protect themselves. With virtual reality, children will experience realistic scenarios and make critical decisions, such as recognizing a CO detector alarm, evacuating, and calling emergency services.Additionally, the VR application includes an interactive movement-based game, where participants actively fight against CO—visualized as an animated ghost with arms and legs that "attacks" virtual players. In different challenges, children must dodge the incoming CO cloud and fight it off by waving their hands and striking. The game requires physical activity, engaging participants in an immersive and dynamic learning experience.
2. Who Should Attend?
This training is designed for children aged 7-12 years old. The program is structured as an engaging educational game that adapts the difficulty level to the child's age. Thanks to the interactive approach, children can practically learn how to react in an emergency, while having fun and improving their coordination skills. It is also suitable for:
Participants of workplace safety integration events
Youth firefighting teams
Fire departments as part of public safety education programs
3. Training Outline
Part I: Introduction to VR (2 minutes) Learning how to use the VR training application, including movement and interaction within the virtual environmentFamiliarization with hand tracking functions for natural, controller-free interaction
Part II: “CO Attack” Game (7 minutes) The child starts the game in a virtual bathroom with a faulty ventilation system.A CO cloud forms, visualized as an animated ghost with arms and legs, gradually filling the room.A CO detector appears, emitting a warning signal. The child's tasks:Recognize the CO detector alarmEvacuate the home as quickly as possibleOpen windows if it is safe to do soCall emergency services at 112 Interactive challenges:Dodging the approaching CO cloud by actively moving in VRFighting the CO ghost by waving hands and striking, causing it to disperseFinal showdown with "Mr. Fireplace", the ultimate boss, requiring a special strategy to defeatThe game’s difficulty increases over time—longer exposure to CO slows reaction time and reduces visibility.
4. Training Benefits This training is dynamic, engaging, and adapted to children’s perception. VR allows participants to safely experience realistic emergency situations and learn life-saving reactions while actively taking part in an interactive battle against a virtual hazard.
